Chapter 17

"You sound excited!" Jules sang as we walked arm in arm down the path to the club. It was Thursday, the wedding would take place on Sunday and everything was more than arranged for the ceremony. We had every detail settled and my binder was full of checks placed proudly on the to-do list.

"Of course I'm excited, it's my best friend's bachelorette party!" I said, poking her belly and receiving an excited giggle in response.

I was obviously very excited to celebrate David and Jules' last moments of bachelorhood. But, if I could be honest, the real reason for that much enthusiasm wasn't only in the party — which, by the way, the couple had finally given up their efforts to call off.

"We're about to have an amazing night at the Blue Hell," Jules said as soon as we reached the bohemian facade of the night club. It had "Blue" written in a sleek, neon font, while "Hell" was more aggressive and darker.

The deal was that Cindy would meet us there. I'd bring Jules and Harry would bring David. It would be just the five of us enjoying the evening. Wearing our best clothes and at maximum capacity for alcohol, we were so excited one could almost feel it in the atmosphere around us. And to top it off, my excitement still had an extra touch, a secret to it.

"An amazing night," I repeated softly when my friend gave our names to the security guard.

"Oh, so you're the bride-to-be?" The man with a seductive smile asked, and Jul blinked a few times before nodding in agreement. I held back a smile. Harry didn't do things by halves.

"Welcome to hell, future Mrs. Charles. Enjoy the shades of blue." The security guard handed her tiara with a veil attached to it, which she promptly put on her head with a broad smile, and let her through. "And you, Miss St. Clair, I hope you find what you're looking for tonight." He gave me a wink.

I gaped at him for a moment, stunned. What did he mean? Well, it probably wasn't a big deal. Maybe it was their standard greeting for maids of honor. After all, it wasn't my night, but the night of the soon-to-be bride and groom.

Jules took my hand and pulled me into the club. I instantly understood the concept of the place. I had imagined that the lights would be red, but in fact the Blue Hell took on a dark blue hue because of the spotlights hanging from the ceiling, causing ambiguous sensations.

In addition, the place was oozing with sin. Women danced on straps of fabric that hung from the ceiling, waiters wore bow ties with boxer briefs, and drag queens performed on vertical poles. The blue light was responsible for providing some contrast to that whole seductive atmosphere.

"Wow!" Jules let out as we stared in amazement at every inch of it. It was unlike anything we had ever seen. "How are we going to find them here?" She asked in my ear, trying to make herself heard over Slumber Party on the loudspeakers.
